Living in a Caravan

Although it sounds like the romantic story of a young couple living in a caravan whilst building their new house, it isn't always as rosy as that!

When looking into whether you could live in a caravan whilst undergoing a self-build project there are a variety of things that need to be taken into consideration, not least planning permission - that's right, although you plan for it to be a short-term fix to stay close to your project and keep an eye on progress often you do require planning permission to have a caravan on your site, whether it is a standard caravan or a static caravan.

You will need to assess the space available on your plot to house a caravan and ensure there is enough space around the building area to remove the caravan when the project is finished.

If you are looking to use a static caravan you will need to arrange for a connection to the sewer system which may also influence where on the site a static caravan could be placed.
