Outline Planning Permission

Outline Planning Permission (OPP) can be applied for with a basic drawing that identifies where the property sits within the land and the general facing/construction material of the property, but does not need to provide much more information than that.

If you are applying for planning permission to sell a plot of land then OPP could be the best way for you to get some sort of permission without going into a lot of detail, although we would recommend that you discuss your proposed plans with the council to make sure that any problem areas are ironed out early on, meaning that you don't have to pay more than once for your planning application.

If you are applying for planning permission to live in the property then we would suggest you contact the council to discuss your plans and look at applying for Detailed Planning Permission instead as this could save you money in the long run - if you are successful in applying for OPP you will need to pay to put in your Detailed Planning Application before you are in a position to start building.

Before building you will also need to confirm your project (and pay a fee) to Building Control.
